Best innovative clean technology (2010)
Kamworks wins Clean Energy Marketplace Award in Manila. On June 25 we received the award during this years' Asia Clean Energy Forum in Manila, Philippines. This yearly event, organized by USAID, the Asian Development Bank and the World Resources Institute, aims to share the best practices in policy, technology and finance to meet the region's climate and energy security challenges. According to Peter du Pont, Chief of Party USAID ECO-Asia Clean Development and Climate Program, the concept Kamworks provided "deemed to be one of the most promising clean energy ideas" at the Forum.

Toon van Tuijl Design Prijs (2008)
[Dutch] De Toon van Tuijl Designprijs in de categorie B, voor consumenten in ontwikkelingslanden, werd dit jaar gewonnen door ‘Team Lumen’; Doortje van de Wouw, Ana Maria Alvarez, Loucas Papantoniou en Stephanie Wirth, studenten aan de TU Delft.

Zij wonnen met de MoonLight, een LED-lamp op zonne-energie. De lamp is speciaal bij producent Kamworks ontworpen voor, en in samenwerking met, mensen op het platteland van Cambodja, die geen aansluiting hebben op het elektriciteitnetwerk en daardoor geen licht hebben of gebruik maken van gevaarlijke en vervuilende kerosinelampen

De jury was onder de indruk van de eenvoud en tegelijkertijd robuustheid en gebruiksvriendelijkheid van het ontwerp. Daardoor zal het niet alleen in Cambodja aftrek kunnen vinden, maar ook in andere rurale gebieden of slums. Het feit dat de lamp niet alleen lokaal afgezet kan worden, maar ook lokaal geproduceerd wordt, is een groot voordeel. MoonLight heeft diverse voordelen van haar ontwerp uitgebreid omschreven, wat de jury duidelijk maakt dat er goed is stilgestaan bij de lokale situatie en behoefte van de consumenten daar. De lamp, die gebruik maakt van de innovatieve LED techniek, gemakkelijk op te laden via zonne-energie. De uiteindelijke kostprijs is nog niet bekend, maar de MoonLight zal door het zonnepaneeltje in ieder geval niet duurder zijn dan het gebruik van de huidige kerosinelampen, batterijen of accu's. Wanneer de lamp in grotere aantallen geproduceerd kan worden, zal de kostprijs dalen en daarmee ook de verkoopprijs

Feel Planet Earth Award (2009)
Team Lumen has won “FEEL PLANET EARTH” Cifial Design Award, is organized with the aim of promoting design, both as a culture, and as a tool, capable of proposing innovative solutions to man's approach to his social and natural environment. The object of this contest is to promote the exchange of ideas and spread the values of design, offering new approaches to tasks products and services, visualizing, interpreting technologies, etc. Its theme arises from the day-to-day concerns around the huge transformations that are presently taking place in our society economy culture and environment, and which the present paradigms seem to be unable to deal with. The goal of this award is to identify and disseminate design contributions to help build a path towards sustainability on issues that we all face, and must urgently discuss. It will be run on a two-phase selection based firstly on an Abstract submission and then a further development for those selected. The theme for the 2008 Award will be the over-dependence on non- renewable sources of energy in the current pattern of development. Any design work on this issue, whether a vehicle, a public transport service, a cooking device or a lighting system, a water pump or any other practical or theoretical contribution, as well as a synopsis from an MsC or PhD dissertation, can be proposed. English will be the only accepted language for the competition.
