Kamworks at sustainable energy workshop (Tanzania)NL Agency has organised a workshop from 27 September to 1 October for the implementers of sustainable energy projects in developing countries. The workshop will be held in Moshi, Tanzania, with the aim of helping implementers to keep their projects operational after the subsidy period has ended. Another central objective is the exchange of knowledge and experience.

The participants are implementers of projects subsidised by the Daey Ouwens Fund or the Global Sustainable Biomass Fund. There will also be representatives present from the ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dutch Embassy and the Energising Development programme. A great deal of interest has been shown, and in total about seventy participants - mainly African - are expected to attend.

The workshop will open with a day specifically dedicated to Jatropha, in which cultivation, processing and sustainability issues will all be examined. After that a range of topics will be dealt with, such as the commercialisation, financing and monitoring of sustainable energy projects. All sessions are 'hands on' and mainly carried out by the project implementers themselves. There will also be plenty of scope for the exchange of practical experience, during the field trip to a number of currently running projects for example.

NL Agency hopes to convert the huge enthusiasm clearly present among participants into sustainable energy activities that will withstand the test of time.
