Jobs at Kamworks

Adventure for students: do a student project in Cambodia

Kamworks ltd is a young and innovative solar energy company in Cambodia, aiming at providing high quality energy solutions to for rural people. Based in the countryside 45 minutes from the capital Phnom Penh, Kamworks itself is also solar powered. When selling solar energy systems to rural people one faces many technical but also cultural and marketing challenges. Come and join this rich environment and be a part of a team of creative thinkers, ‘can-do’ –spirited engineers and innovative marketeers.

Student projects available to engineering and industrial design students:

1. Accessories for our solar home systems: Kamworks sells solar systems to people that live away from the electricity grid. Once they have the solar system, these people want to use appliances that are energy efficient and run on 12 Volt. Therefore, Kamworks aims at developing: a high efficiency fan people can use to cool their work place or ventilate their kitchen.

2. Development of a rental version of the MoonLight solar lantern: Kamworks has been running a pilot with rental LED lanterns from an NGO called ProSeed. The rental services is a big success and we would like to develop a rental version of our LED moonlight lantern for the rental market.

3. Monitoring Solar products: the performance of the new solar products we have developed needs to be analysed so they can be improved. Therefore a series of products has to be equipped with data loggers and the data has to be analyzed.

Student projects available to business students:

1. Development of a business plan for the Phnom Penh branche office: Kamworks needs a branche office in the capital. A business plan needs to be developed for that, jointly with our future Phnom Penh branches manager.

2. Business plan for LED lantern project: Kamworks has been running a pilot with rental battery operated LED lanterns, for poor rural people that cannot afford their own light (see article in Kamworks newsletter 2008.1).The pilot has been successful and we would like to scale up this idea. The current project needs to be evaluated after which a business plan can be developed.
