Why is Kamworks located outside Phnom Phen?
This makes it possible to understand and interact with rural villagers, so we can design better solar solutions. As a result, Kamworks has successfully developed award winning products such as the MoonLight in a participatory approach with local villagers.
How come a young company like Kamworks already won so much international recognition?
It is probably due to the challenge we are taking on: we aim at selling a new (clean) technology, to the poorest people on the planet, which are dispersed and often not aware of the technology yet. People realize it is absolutely necessary, but a very hard thing to do. At Kamworks we are constantly developing novel ideas and innovations to address this challenge, and we are testing them out in the market.
Does Kamworks have a social mission?
Yes, Kamworks is a business, but with a social mission. Our bigger social mission is to bring affordable solar solutions to rural people and to contribute to developing a solar sector inside Cambodia, a sector that produces and adds value in Cambodia.
